Meet the Sisters Behind Mindful Birth
Hi, we are the Mindful Birth Doulas — sisters Jennifer & Amanda Roosa.
Raised by a midwife mother, birth has always been part of our lives. What began as a family foundation eventually grew into a shared passion for supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
Together, we bring years of experience supporting families as certified doulas through Doulas of North America (DONA®), HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educators, and registered yoga instructors specializing in prenatal and postpartum wellness.
Our passion lies in guiding women to feel calm, informed, and empowered as they prepare for birth. We believe every woman deserves to trust her instincts, understand her choices, and approach birth without fear.
Through education, emotional support, and grounded preparation, our goal is to help families feel confident and supported as they welcome their babies into the world.

This mantra has carried Amanda through some of the most transformative moments of her life — including the birth of her son, which ultimately revealed her true calling.
When Amanda became pregnant, she envisioned an empowering, unmedicated birth surrounded by the people she loved. But at 38 weeks pregnant, life took an unexpected turn. Her partner walked out, leaving Amanda to navigate the final weeks of pregnancy while moving into a new home, caring for a young puppy, and preparing to become a mother on her own.
Despite the uncertainty, Amanda stayed deeply committed to the birth she had envisioned.
With the steady support of her sister and the wisdom of her mother, a midwife, she leaned into breath, movement, visualization, and trust in her body. The preparation and mindset she cultivated during that time would later become the foundation of Mindful Birth.
When her son was born, Amanda remembers turning to her sister moments after and saying, “That was f*cking amazing.”
That moment changed everything.
It showed her that birth is not simply a medical event — it is a powerful, emotional, and deeply human experience. One that, with the right support and preparation, can leave women feeling strong, capable, and transformed.
Today, Amanda is a certified birth and postpartum doula, HypnoBirthing® educator, and passionate guide for families navigating pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum transition. She specializes in supporting women who desire calm, intentional births — particularly first-time mothers preparing for unmedicated or low-intervention hospital births.
Over the years, Amanda has supported dozens of families through births in hospitals and birth centers throughout northern New Jersey. She has experience supporting both physiological births and medically supported labors, helping families navigate each moment with calm, informed guidance.
Her approach blends evidence-based education, practical preparation, and emotional support so that families feel confident, grounded, and deeply supported as labor unfolds.
Amanda’s goal is simple: for every woman she supports to feel respected, capable, and proud of the way she brought her baby into the world.
Based in northern New Jersey, Amanda lives with her son Gavin and their Australian Shepherd, Frisco. When she’s not supporting families, you can find her lifting at the gym, hiking in nature, or spending time outdoors with friends and family.
Amanda believes every woman deserves to feel supported, informed, and deeply respected in her birth experience — and she is honored to walk alongside families during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives.

Jennifer’s path into supporting women began through her own deeply personal journey through motherhood, healing, and transformation.
After struggling with secondary infertility, Jennifer ultimately conceived on her third round of IVF with the support of the reproductive specialists at RMA of New Jersey. Her journey into motherhood unfolded in ways she never expected, bringing both immense joy and profound personal challenges. Jennifer has given birth to three beautiful children through three very different birth experiences, including a powerful vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC).
Along the way, Jennifer also navigated both antepartum and postpartum depression during different pregnancies — experiences that deepened her empathy and understanding of the emotional landscape many mothers walk through.
It was through yoga, mindfulness, and spiritual work that Jennifer began to find her way back to herself.
Those practices became not only tools for healing, but the foundation for her life’s work.
Jennifer went on to become a certified birth doula through DONA International, a HypnoBirthing® Childbirth Educator, and a Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. She co-founded Avalon Wellness Center in Morristown, NJ, creating a sanctuary where women could come together for pregnancy support, education, and wellness. Through this space she helped build the Mindful Birth community alongside her sister Amanda, supporting countless families through pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.
Today, Jennifer’s work has expanded even further.
Through her coaching practice, Mindful Rebirth, she supports women navigating major life transitions — whether after having a baby, during relationship changes, or while redefining themselves in new seasons of life. Her work centers around emotional resilience, mindfulness, boundary setting, and helping women reconnect with their inner strength during vulnerable moments.

Jennifer believes that life’s most difficult chapters often become the doorway to deeper purpose, growth, and self-discovery. Her passion is guiding women through those transitions with compassion, wisdom, and grounded support.
She continues to share her experience and training to help women feel seen, supported, and empowered as they move through the evolving stages of motherhood and womanhood.
